Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the analgesic and movement improvement effects of Apitoxin bee venom acupunctures on patients with spinal degeneration induced low back pain. Subjects and methods: 100 patients with spinal degeneration induced low back pain were divided into two groups. They were treated by Electro-acupuncture following apitoxin bee venom acupuncture at dose 0.0025 mg/kg (Apitoxin bee venom group) or saline acupuncture (control group). Results: After 15 treatment days, there was a decrease in scale VAS while there were significant increases in motion ranges in the Apitoxin bee venom group from 7^th day to 15^th day. In the control group, these changes appear only at15^th day. There were significant differences in mean time to peak and mean maximum intensity of muscle contraction between two groups. Conclusion: Apitoxin bee venom acupunctures had strong effects of the analgesic and movement improvement in patients with spinal degeneration induced low back pain.
