Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the analgesic and movement improvement effects of Apitoxin bee venom acupunctures on patients with spinal degeneration induced low back pain. Subjects and methods: 100 patients with spinal degeneration induced low back pain were divided into two groups. They were treated by Electro-acupuncture following apitoxin bee venom acupuncture at dose 0.0025 mg/kg (Apitoxin bee venom group) or saline acupuncture (control group). Results: After 15 treatment days, there was a decrease in scale VAS while there were significant increases in motion ranges in the Apitoxin bee venom group from 7th day to 15th day. In the control group, these changes appear only at15th day. There were significant differences in mean time to peak and mean maximum intensity of muscle contraction between two groups. Conclusion: Apitoxin bee venom acupunctures had strong effects of the analgesic and movement improvement in patients with spinal degeneration induced low back pain.
